What is this all about?
This blog is intended for professional structural engineers who want to to become better engineers. I teach how to use MS Word, MS Excel and VBA. Practising engineers have a dysfunctional relationship with computers and create endless streams of mediocre calculations. I discovered this exists everywhere!
I believe there are better ways to do calculations, spreadsheets and programming, for all engineers to be able to get ahead. It is intended to be non-technical and inspirational. And obvious, in hindsight.

It is criminal really.
Companies train a select few engineers on Structural analysis packages and MatchCAD then expect them to be gurus to everybody else.
You should be seeking every opportunity to get training on computers towards producing better calculations, learning to lead the team and developing computer proficiencies.
The future will be competitive and very exciting for engineers that can master the art of producing calculations effortlessly. You have the future generations of engineers looking at you now. Choose to be a master.
